These new lines have been designed like no others on the market today. The Mackenzie DTX design team has taken the G2 Spey lines to another level; firstly by ascertaining what it is that anglers look for in a Spey line and then, utilising their collective experience, create a range of Spey lines that surpasses the balance, stability and performance of any others on the market today.
Improvements in fly lines have come a long way over the past few years and this is particularly true of Spey lines.
At Mackenzie we have always looked to lead the way forward in terms of creating better, high quality performance lines and the new G2 Spey lines do not disappoint.
A floating Spey line should do several very important things; it should cast well as a full floater, giving you nice tight loops, and it should land the fly and line delicately on the water.
It should also perform equally well if you add a sinking poly leader or large fly on the end and this is where a number of other makes of line don’t perform as well.
At Mackenzie DTX we understand fly fishing and casting and have created Spey lines that cast well by themselves but importantly they also perform equally well with poly tips or bigger flies on the end. This can be what you fish with most throughout the whole season.
All G2 Spey lines are built with low stretch core line, giving the caster the best possible transition of power between the rod tip and the line, which helps when setting a hook at distance.
A new softer coating developed for all our G2 lines allows the line to bite down on the forward delivery giving you tighter loops and the unique tapering system creates more speed in the line, giving the caster perfect control, presentation and turn over.
The front taper of the G2 Spey lines is coloured the same as the back running line, which helps to blend the line in as it swings round in the stream. It also helps you to see a fish take more quickly; especially from an elevated position.
Both the head and the running line on the G2 Spey lines are twin coloured and have a slightly ridged coating, this helps prevent the line tangling and with a smaller surface area touching the rod ring when casting, it shoots better than normal un-ridged lines.
