A few months ago I was approached by Andrew Flitcroft, the editor of Trout and Salmon Magazine, to see if I'd be interested in being guest editor of Trout and Salmon for a special new Autumn edition, which was going to be focussing on ghillies. I was really pleased to have been asked, and I have been working with the team at Trout and Salmon closely now for the last three months. We have been speaking to ghillies and producing articles for the edition, which is on sale in the third week of August. I really enjoyed working with the team at Trout and Salmon on this, as it gave me a good insight into how the magazine is produced each month.

The CLA was held this year at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. This is my favourite location for the show, which moves around England each year. The CLA Game Fair seems to go from strength to strength each year, and is now the biggest show of its kind in the world, attracting over 140,000 people this year. I was demonstrating each day again this year, which is always great to do at this show as you always get a large audience. Sales at the show were amazing, with all products selling very well. We took our new G2 Spey Lines which we have just launched with us, and these were particularly well received, with good sales and great feedback.

Scone was again good this year. I was demonstrating for the first time at the show at both the main ring and on the river. The show was busy with a lot of interest in the Mackenzie products. The new shooting head lines that we have just launched were particularly well received, with very positive feedback.

Here are some pictures from Finland where Scott was doing demonstrations and casting instruction. The event, called the Spey Jamboree, was held near the town of Kotka in Finland. There was a big competition going on with casters coming from Estonia, Russia and Finland. There were several different competitions going on, but the main distance competition was the 18ft Spey Rod Competition and was won by one of our Finnish pro staff members called Joonas Oksanen using an 18ft Mackenzie DTX rod.
