Hourly and Daily Instruction
Scott is a 3 times World Spey casting champion and was team captain for the winning Scotland team at the Spey casting world championships in Ireland 2006. He is a fully qualified casting instructor holding an Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors Certificate.
Hourly or daily instruction will take place on the River Ness or at a venue that suits you
The instruction caters for all levels of caster, from the absolute beginner who wants to start of correctly, right through to the more advanced levels where they want to tweak things slightly to give themselves more consistent casting or distance, each lesson will be tailored to suit each persons particular level and needs
All tackle can be supplied free of charge, as well as advice on what tackle would suit each person can be given. During the lesson, generalfishing tips will also be given and any questions you might have on any aspect of the casting or fishing will be answered.

Exclusive Spey Casting Master Class 2013
This year we are holding 4 courses over 2 venues.
The River Tay, at Upper Scone with them staying at the Murrays Hall House Hotel 16th to 18th May.
Upper scone fishing's sits in the grounds of the famous Scone Palace the ancestral home and crowing place of many Scotland's Kings. These courses will have 10 clients per course and I will be assisted by Ian Kirk, fishery manager for the entire Scone fishing's. Ian is a fully qualified casting instructor and part of the design and development team for the Mackenzie brand.
These courses will consist of 2 days full casting instruction covering all the different Spey casts with every aspect of Spey casting and fly fishing being covered, by breaking down the casts into easily achievable steps and at the same time gaining a clear understanding of each cast of how it works.
Each cast is well structured so that the caster gains a clear understanding of casting and fly fishing in general. All courses cater for all levels of caster from the absolute beginner who wants to start of correct, to the more advanced level of caster who wants to tweak and adjust things slighlty to give themselves more consistent casting or distance. Each course will be tailored to suit the specific needs of each caster. During the course, we will also have in depth discussions on various topics, which will help the caster learn vital things like
- How to stand and hold the rod correctly
- How the fly line loads the rod
- How to flex the rod properly
- How the rod and line work together
Each course will also cover more general but important topics like
- How to wade safely
- How to stay warm and dry when fishing
- How to read the water like an expert
- How to choose the right tackle that suits you and your fishing environment
Questions are encouraged at all times. Any tackle that is needed for your stay can be provided free of charge.
For this course you will be staying at the 4 star Murrayshall Househotel, which is a beautiful hotel which sits in it's own grounds only a short drive from the river. You will be booked into the hotel with a Superior double room per person. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner will all be provided as well as some wine with your evening meal. Teas and coffees are also included. These courses are on the deluxe scale where you will be well looked after at all times.

The 2nd venue is on the River Ness at Ness-side fishing's.
Course at Ness-side are on the 9th to 11th May.
These courses are based on 8 clients per course and again I will be assosted by Kenny MacDonald, who is a well-known ghillie and casting instructor and part of the Mackenzie brand pro staff, this course like the other one will consist of 2 days full casting instruction, covering all aspects of Spey casting and fly fishing being covered by breaking down the casts into easily achievable steps and at the same time gaining a clear understanding of each cast and how it works. Each course is well structured so that the caster gains a clear understanding of casting and fly fishing in general.

Like the other course, this course is also on the deluxe scale where you will be well looked at all times during your stay.
